The two-tiered wage system is broken. We can fix it, but we’ll need your support.

The majority of all tipped workers, and more than 70% of servers, are women. In 43 states, they are paid a subminimum wage as low as $2.13 an hour – the federal rate since 1991. Ninety-percent of tipped restaurant workers report experiencing sexual harassment, and women in states with a $2.13 tipped minimum wage are TWICE as likely to experience sexual harassment than women in states with no subminimum wage.

There are millions of people currently employed by the restaurant industry, but countless more women that are introduced to the world of work through restaurants where they’re practically guaranteed to experience some form of harassment on the job.

When you’re living off tips, you literally live shift-to-shift, are forced to choose between groceries and bills, and are unable to plan for the future.

All workers, regardless of their occupation, should be guaranteed a livable wage paid directly to them by their employer. That’s why we’re advocating that the subminimum wage be eliminated, and instead of forcing customers to pay the majority of a server’s wages, all employers be required to pay all their workers at least one fair minimum wage.

Everyone deserves 100% of a fair minimum wage.

Women are speaking out against living off tips by declaring that they’re
