Hi, my name is Berner, I’m 27 yrs old, originally from Guatemala and I have been working as a server in a Japanese restaurant for the last 3 years. However, before working as a server, I worked in the customer service industry for 10 years. I wanted a job that not only paid better, but treated employees with respect, equality and promoted advancements and better opportunities. I needed to make a change…
I had no family in the U.S until I joined ROC- Miami; now I have a family that I can trust and rely on. Their program not only trained me for the position I have today, but it has helped me become more vocal and confident. One day, I had a misunderstanding with my manager and after failing to resolve the issue, I went to the owner of the restaurant. He said we were all a big family, so I told him that I need to be treated with rights and as an equal member as well. If it weren’t for ROC- Miami, I would not have had the tools and confidence to fight for my rights as a worker. I want all workers to be treated equally, with better opportunities and
ROC means justice for everyone, so be ROC!
