My name is Granetta, but everyone calls me Gran. I’m a 57 year old mother and grandmother, and I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I’ve been working in the restaurant industry for basically 50 years, since I was a little girl. I am passionate about supporting workers that don’t have that support from their work. During my most recent position, I had an accident that required me to take off time to heal. However, when I asked for some time off, I was fired. I joined ROC-Chicago so that I can help those like me who feel helpless and unsupported by their employers. I am willing to fight for the causes of others because restaurant workers deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. We can only be successful if we work together and support each other.
