Living off tips is one of the worst career choices anyone can make. I have been born and raised in the restaurant industry and understand how fickle your income can be. The fact that tipped employees are not guaranteed benefits, retirement plans, or a fair min. wadge is the reason I am leaving this horrible industry. Big businesses have found loop holes that allow them to circumvent paying fair wadges and providing benefits based on not providing enough hours to any one employee. This in turn makes it virtually impossible for anyone that gets caught in this trap to get out. More attention needs to be placed on the hospitality industry, both front and back of the house.
