The CHOW 102 class will be an advanced bartending class, following the previous 101 course hosted by our friends at Nativo in Highland Park in the summer. The classes will be hosted December 4th-10th from 10am to 3:30pm, with a graduation service on Sunday night December 10th.
In the 102 workshop, students will be learning
How to craft and execute your own cocktail
Revisiting the spectrum of cocktail families and different spirits
How to create a balanced menu
Steps of Service in Hospitality
Learning holiday cocktail favorites
Learning to work the flavor wheel
In addition to learning about bartending, every class will also provide political coffee breaks, where we invite guest speakers to teach and share knowledge of wage theft, heat and heat illness at work and know your rights at protests resources for restaurant workers. We also provide all the tools and materials you might need for the class, including a workbook, though we encourage anyone to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes.
There is metered parking outside the building and non metered parking around the neighborhood. While we encourage students to bring their own lunch, there are a couple of local restaurants and small businesses we enjoy supporting within walking distance. **If you missed our introductory class: no worries ! We will be hosting a 101 class in February and the 102 class will be available again soon after that class graduates. The program repeats a couple times a year, feel free to sign up for 102 and email Nohemi at nohemi@rocunited.org to ask to be added to the waitlist for the 101 class in January.
