WHAT IS HAPPENING

In August, the EEOC proposed a new rule that would require employers to provide reasonable accommodations to workers affected by, or arising out of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause an undue hardship on the operation of the business of the covered entity.

I support the EEOC’s proposal to expand rights to pregnant workers in the restaurant industry. All employers should be required to provide reasonable accommodations to workers affected by, or arising out of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. It is imperative that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission move swiftly on this proposed rule and protect all workers impacted by gender & sex discrimination.
