EDUCATE YOUR REP

Meeting face to face with lawmakers is one of the most effective ways to persuade them to support the issues we care about. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic going on, virtual meetings are just as powerful and necessary. These meetings let them know that their constituents are paying attention — and that they support worker rights and racial & gender equity. So, where do you begin? Find your local, state & federal lawmakers here and shoot them a call or email. Below is a sample email you can use to ask for a constituent meeting.

EMAIL TITLE: INSERT ISSUE HERE

Dear X LAWMAKER,

I hope that you and your loved ones are doing well. I am writing to request a virtual constituent meeting with INSERT TITLE & NAME regarding INSERT ISSUE. We have constituents who are members of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers United and would like to meet with the INSERT TITLE & NAME to discuss why ISSUE is important to them. Please let me know if we can schedule a meeting with INSERT ISSUE at your earliest convenience. For a virtual meeting, we have Zoom capability or we can set up a conference call, whichever is most convenient for your office. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
